Ricky Benson
Ricky Benson joined the fire department in 1977 when his family moved to Imboden and he wanted to become a part of the community. He was appointed fire chief after the current chief Ray Poteet became ill and also became water supt. for Imboden around 1985. He remembers well the night a fire hose busted and broke Ray Poteet’s leg. The first thing he use to have to do as water supt and a fireman is to head down to the old water plant (that was built in 1957) to make sure everything was up to par and hope that we had enough water to fight the fire and still leave enough to supply the town! His dream came true when the city was able to start pumping from the new wells. He served the city in this capacity for 18 years. He now sells John Deere tractors and equipment for Greenway.
